Carlos Costa e Silva was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in the 18th of March 1974.
He graduated in law from the Faculty of Law (“Faculdade de Direito”) of the Lisbon University (“Universidade de Lisboa”, commonly known in Portugal as “Clássica”).
He registered in the Portuguese Bar Association as an apprentice lawyer in the year of 1997 and completed the training and became fully admitted to the Bar in the year of 1999.
He has been practicing law ever since focused in the focused areas.
Since the start of his career, until the 30th of June 2020, Carlos Costa e Silva was a lawyer at Barrocas Advogados.
He opened CCSLex on the 1st of July, 2020.
Throughout his career, he has been a frequent speaker in international conferences on topics mostly connected with shipping, transport and insurance (IBA, UIA, AIJA, AIDA).
He often publishes articles on topics of the focused areas.
During the years of 2011 to 2014, he lectured the courses “Principles of Shipping Law”, “Shipping Contracts” and “Marine Insurance” in cooperation with IIR.
He speaks Portuguese as native language, is fluent in English, Spanish and Catalan and speaks and reads French.
